Early termination fee?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Have a contract currently with O2 for a S7 edge which is around £37 a month which gets billed on the 5th of each month ending on the 4th March 2018. Contacted support and asked for the early termination charge, which they told me would be £28.06, which is in the region I kind of expected.

Assuming I cancelled the contract as of today (22/01/18), I would have to pay that £28.06, but is this in addition to the normal monthly cost?

Ie. would it be a £28.06 fee and then it gets cancelled, or would it be the £28.06 added on to the remaining cost of the contract (which is one month, due to the fact that I get billed one day after the contract ends, so £28.06*(37*1) = £67.06)?

Thanks all

Are you on Refresh it a standard contract? If you are on Refresh then you only need to pay what’s left of the device plan & give 30 days notice on the airtime. If it’s a standard contract then you will have to pay what’s left in full.

Heres my guide to O2 Refresh

You have to pay 24 monthly payments of £37.
You pay in advance at the first bill payment so the last month is now effectively paid for.
You will need to pay up to the 4th March and then you are clear, so I make that one full month plus 13 days.

So you are saying it will be the latter? (£37.00 *1) + £28.06?

Yes, I believe so. If you were upgrading it would would just be the £28.06 but to leave it will be the full amount.
