Early termination fee

Dear O2,

why am I charged an early cancellation fee of £80 on my O2 refresh after leaving after more than one year - but the O2 website says:

"With O2 Refresh, there’s no penalty for ending your contract early. All you have to do is pay off the balance of your Phone Plan."

http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref(User):str(Mobile),C...

This is doesn't make sense to me,

Please help.

Max

What was the balance of your phone plan and have you paid it?

At first glance it looks like the device plan hasn't been paid off.

That's what I'm guessing first.

The phone plan is over two years which doesn't appear to have passed yet.

The reference to cancelling for free is the airtime only, but as quoted, the device plan must be paid first.
