Hi
I am on sim only contract, using own handset dual sim Note 4.
Surprised now to find out O2 has several dual sim ones including Samsung A50 and A70. Years ago, networks didn't support these handsets, claiming that they have no control on the phone if second sim is with another netork. Has situation changed recently or what i had been told was incorrect?
As i am keen to get one of these, i have some questions and appreciate some feedback -
- has anyone got these dual sims from O2 and got the dual sims work?
- do they work with one sim on o2, and 2nd sim being some other provider including foreign as in when you travel?
- can you view and buy them at o2 shop or must you order online?
- i am eligible to upgrade, has anyone done upgrade to such dual sim handset, any problems or gotchas?

Many thanks!

David

@Davidwwww

I have a OP6 and use both SIM slots just fine.

There are no gotchas at all.

Order online or in store but we always recommend in store to ensure stock availability.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Hello @Davidwwww

I bought the Samsung Galaxy A70 and @Poppysmum  bought the A50

We both loved them.

I went into the Samsung Shop and looked at them all.

If there is a Samsung Shop near you or not far away that is the best thing

to do, don't have to buy from there of course, viewing is acceptable.

I wrote a review on here and so did poppysmum I have put the links to both

reviews ~ A50 and A70 ~ hope this helps you.

You may like to read them.

Any way I do know that you can use the two sims for separate providers.

The Samsung has three slots 2 sim and one for SD.

Best wishes TallTrees

another question - when you upgrade, do you have the option to keep phone number of the existing contract? I believe option is available but thought I ask. and upgrade from sim-only also has option to keep number?

Yes, when upgrading from either type of contract you automatically keep your number unless you request a new one.

Thank you all for your help. I am now in the '70s'. The A70 is impressive.

I don't change phone that often and this is a 3-year contract. I can't really compare this to other brands and models. The SIM tray is very fiddly though but not a huge concern. Overall, happy!
