Does new phone come unlocked

Hi, I just upgrade my contract Pay Monthly and I took the new device Samsung S20. I forgot to ask if the phone will come unlocked as I will gift this phone to my mum and she is not with O2. If not please advise me if there is an option to unlock.

Yes it will be unlocked. O2 have sold all their phones as unlocked for the last 2 years.
