Solved: Does a sim swap cancel the old contract

Basically I rang up o2 to cancel a contact as I've taken out a new one. I was told that I could do a sim swap to keep my old number.

Will I still need to ring up and cancel the old contract? When the number has transferred?

A sim swap just swaps sims, it does not cancel the contract.

Yes if you wish to keep the old number then you will need to call o2 to transfer the number to the new contract which will end the old one. Bear in mind that if there are any remaining fees left then you will have to pay those
