Do I have time to sort this before my holiday?

I'm going to New Zealand for a month on Tuesday next week.  Three weeks ago I contacted o2 on the phone to ask about getting my HTC Desire HD handset unlocked so I could use it with a local SIM while I'm away.

No problem, I was told.  it takes seven working days and you'll receive a text then an email telling you how to do it.

Two weeks later, no text or email.  I called yesterday and spoke to someone else who said she could see that I had called them but there was nothing on my file and she would 'escalate it' and I'd get a call back within 48 hours.

Still no call yet.  Why does it take so long to unlock a handset?

What can i do to make sure it's done before I leave?

Help!

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
