Im looking at upgrading early which will obviously charge but my friend has a job at o2 so can i get his discount on the early upgrade charge and the monthly charge?

Call 202 and talk to retentions to see if they will do anything for you on the early upgrade fees, but remember you already get 25% off that automatically if switching to refresh.
OPen discount can be applied to your new airtime tariff as long as you don't have any other monthly discounts applied

No only on your new tariff. Ending the contract early if not a refresh will incur charges.
