Dropping to "No service" is not apn related but signal related.
How many bars are displays for signal strength?
Try a sim clean as above.
And check what your signal should be like using the status checker http://status.o2.co.uk this will also tell you if there are any local issues.
In the location this is happening in, what are the bars with 3g enabled compared to 2g only this may indicate a local cell fault on 2g if 3g is stronger
