Delayed Delivery

On Christmas Day I decided to upgrade early. I chose the IPhone XR and selected 28/12 for standard delivery. I was then given information about how to track my order. Today I spend most of the day on the DPD app to see where my phone was. The updates on the app did not change. I did not receive my new mobile. Later I called o2 to ask if I could amend my order to click and collect (I live five minutes from an o2 store). After over two hours, and four phone calls I found out: (a) my mobile has not been scanned by DPD (b) o2 do not know where the phone is (c) I cannot collect the same phone in store or amend my order until o2 locate my phone (d) the customer service adviser acknowledged this is an issue with o2 and DPD however I am facing the brunt of lack of communication. I do not know the progress of the order, I have been told I cannot collect the same model (which is stocked) from my local store and apparently my only option is to take out a new contract entirely until o2 investigate and resolve the situation. I am frustrated by this situation - I was told a delivery date and o2 did not deliver to this. My current Handset is a state, hence why I upgraded. Any advice?
