Just to add..Wifi really is the cheapest way. You may find data is throttled if you use O2 Travel  as I have shown above. Make sure you activate O2 travel before you go

If you've got a Pay Monthly sim, text O2TRAVELto 23336. If you've got a Pay As You Go sim, text TRAVELON to 21300.

It can take up to 24 hours for O2 Travel to be applied to your account.

Download your music before you go if WiFi is slow over there.
O2 roaming data is throttled and heavily restricted for downloading and streaming so it will drive you nuts.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

@Percival Your WiFi connection will be as fast or as slow as the one you're connected to. I'm sure they're not all slow. If you want to avoid data charges, make sure you switch off your mobile data in settings. If you want to use a local sim, make sure your phone is unlocked before you leave. It's always more difficult to do when you're abroad.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

@Percival

1 is you phone unlocked ?

2 as above wifi is the cheapest way forward if free access.

3 if answer  to 1 is yes then local sim option

But remember to ensure your phone is in flight mode all the time as many things can trigger the £4.99 daily charge
