Data, rolling over & bolt-ons

I thought that my data rolled over from month to month but it looks like only bolt-ons roll over. Can someone confirm this please? Also how do they know that I have used that data and not the data from the following month? (If that makes any sense)

I am on pay monthly on a standard tariff (not business).

For example, I just bought a bolt-on of 500MB. Next month let's say 100MB rolls over so i wind up with 5GB and 100MB of data. I only use 5GB of data the following month. What happens to that 100MB data - does it roll over again or do they assume that I used it first and then not carry over the 100MB data from my monthly allowance?

Thank yo.

Only bolt on data rolls over and any roll over data is used first the following month.
