Data abroad (Canada) problem with excessive charges

Anonymous
Not applicable

I've been an O2 customer for a number of years and have been "ok" with their data abroad policy. I can usually get away with using less than 50mb and getting my £40 extra charge when I get back.

At the moment I'm in Canada. I've just got a text from O2 telling me that I've already spent an extra £42 on data. This is very strange, my phone (iPhone) tells me I've used 14.4mb of data since I entered the country, I reset the data counter when I arrived, just like I always do when travelling. The MyO2 section confirms the extra spend.

Has there been a policy change, do I not get my 50mb abroad any more? Any idea also on how I get the data abroad bolt on to increase the limit to 200mb/£120?

You can get the added bolt on through My O2 or by calling customer service. You still get the 50Mb/month for £40 so maybe you should query this with customer service.

See our standard international calling rates when abroad for all countries.

* O2 will automatically cap your data usage to £40 (50 MB) a month whilst you're abroad
