Data Charged

Have recently purchased a new phone with windows 8. Everyday I get a message saying I'm being charged £1.00 for data I wont have to pay anything else until midnight. I'm on a basic PAYG tariff, would I be better to switch to a monthly tariff to stop this £1.00 charge?

You might be better switching to a different PAYG tarrif that includes data?

I had this. On a Nokia goto settings>system>data connection & ensure this option is switched off.

The £1 charge is made just by switching Data Connection on, i.e. even if you don't use any data (internet or download emails). I contacted O2 Customer Services when this happened to me, explained it was a new phone & they could see I hadn't used any data & they refunded the "connection charge".

NB I would also ensure email download settings are set to manual.
