Just noticed this data charge for my colleague, she has been in USA for 4 weeks, flew back to Heathrow on the 4th Jan, she wants to know why she has been charged for Country Norway???? (see below) Also she removed her o2 sim card until 4th Jan, used a Three Sim whilst in the USA!
Cheers.

Of course your friend could also look in My O2 to see what those charges were for @Anonymous

As far as I'm aware, you're still not allowed to use your phone on trans-atlantic flights except in airplane mode, at least not on any airline I've flown on, so I don't see how it could be a charge while they were on the plane? We won't know for certain what the charge is for unless the OP's colleague speaks to CS, or looks in their MYO2 account and they return here with clarification.

Airlines do now allow onboard usage. I always connect to the airlines own wifi (Emirates) but they allow calls and texts by connecting to the plane's systems too. There are certain restrictions such as taking off and landing and I believe most of the bigger airlines are or have introduced inflight services.

Though none of this would involve data usage @jonsie?

connecting to any of the airline systems would but we are all only guessing here to be honest.

The last time I flew to the US (on BA) was in October, and using my phone in flight was still barred, except in airplane mode. I do know that some airlines have started allowing it, but not all yet. Many US internal airline flights allow phone use now.
Unless the OP comes back, this is all conjecture.

True we are all guessing...Facts are
The OPs friend used a Three sim in the US = no charge
She put her O2 sim back in her phone in the airport 2 hrs before taking off for home
Mobile data was turned off.
Until all this is checked out via CS or My O2 none of us will be any the wiser....:smileywink:

Just spoke with CS, most probably a mobile service on the plane, anyway they have refunded the cost as a goodwill gesture, fair play to them! Thanks for all your feedback guys, take care...
