In am over due an upgrade so will my monthly bill now just be the cost of data etc instead of paying for the handset also? can I Stick with this or do I need to change?

If you are on refresh it will drop automatically to just an airtime payment.
If you took your contract from somewhere other than O2 direct, you will need to call O2 and request a drop to a sim only tariff yourself as it won't be automatic.
If you took your contract from somewhere other than O2 direct, you will need to call O2 and request a drop to a sim only tariff yourself as it won't be automatic.
