Hiya,
I have tried applying for a mortgage only to find out that O2 have one account listed as tele communications which mortgages do accept and the other two show a personal loan? And unsecured what is that about? It’s putting any lenders off lending to me as it appears as a pay day loan!!!!

I have contacted the credit file team via email and fax and I have heard nothing back in a month!!!

Please help.!!!

@Cara_ramram

Did you take out a Refresh Contract? as the device plan is an unsecured personal loan, and is a legitimate entry and you signed a Consumer Credit Agreement, and o2 report your payments againt it to the Credit Reference Agencies, and have a legal duty to do so.

It is not seen by anyone as the same as a payday loan, whoever is telling you that is im afraid talking rubbish.

Our mortgage broker has said it appears as a loan which lenders do not look at greatly he asked me if o2 could change it to telecommunications which would look far better on the credit file. Which would make lenders more likely to lend.
I have just got a new upgrade and refreshed my account I have two accounts one for business and one personal so use two phone numbers…

O2 and Bt are the only things I pay for on my credit file.. I’m trying to contact the team to see why this showing like this and if there’s any chance if could be changed to tele communications but I’m guessing this is a shot in the dark.

Thanks for the reply not sure what to do now
One o2 tab says telecommunications the other two show as personal loans and the amount the phone is worth.
Looks horrific as I have just got the iPhone max 12 and it’s showing as over 1,247.

O2 screw you over for a mortgage after these contracts I’m never going back 12 plus years and for what?

O2 haven't screwed you over on this. You have technically taken out a loan for the value of your device, its charged at 0% and that value will be reducing with each passing month, something which your lender will be able to see.

Regretfully it is unlikely they will change how this appears for one user, however I agree with earlier posts, your mortgage lender will have seen this before (and a number of times) so shouldn't be viewing this as a payday loan, I think your broker is providing you with incorrect information in this example.

The loan should also be for a reasonably small amount in the grand scheme of a mortgage, your main issue will be in your upgraded recently (ie in the last month or two) then it is likely your credit score will have reduced because of this device loan, however once you have made payments on this account your credit score should pick back up
