I have 2 pay n go O2 sims, have been with O2 for many years. I tried to get a contract today but my credit check denied me. I have only recently opened a bank account, but have enough money to pay for a years contract up front if need be. My reference is xxxxxxxxxx. Can this please be sorted as I pay £40 a month now for my 2 pay n go sims and would like a contract

You'll need to call customer service to see if they can process a contract for you, but you'd be advised to wait a while as too many credit checks in quick succession can be detrimental also.
Numbers here Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support 
When it comes to the reason you are calling stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
Say "Upgrade", "Lost/Stolen" or "Fraud" if you have to, to get put through to someone.
8.00am is the best time to call if you can.

A contract is not guaranteed, even if you have been an o2 customer for many years, as it takes into account your credit file and the information they contain.

I would have a look at the likes of Clearscore or Credit Karma to check your file.

As @MI5 says wait 30 days or so before reapplying
