Contract / SIM Question

Hi Guys,

I'll try to make this as simple as possible.

Basically I lost my phone and arranged to get it blocked with O2 which all went fine, we then discussed the next options of what I could do. After discussing with an advisor for a while I decided to just do an O2 refresh as my now lost phone wasn't insured.

The advisor said that he had to send out a new SIM card which I was fine with, he told me to have a look around at the phones/contracts to see what I would like and then call back up.

I then received my new SIM card, which I couldn't use as I didn't have a phone anyway....

After that I called up again and arranged the refresh, I decided to get the Sony Xperia Z1 and the advisor went through the new costs/details and everything was fine.

I received the phone today and with it came another SIM card, now I'm wondering which SIM card to use, the first one that was sent out for my lost phone or the one that arrived with the Z1?

I also want to know if I'm going to be charged 2 bills as I now seem to own 2 SIM cards.

I've tried the SIM card that came with the Z1 and there was no signal for the phone and it just wasn't working.

I then used the first SIM card that was sent and that works perfect, 4G even works on there.

Can someone please shed some light on this situation? Should I be using the first SIM card or the one that came with the Z1 and am I going to be charged double since I now have 2 cards?

Hiya Vespah

The 1st sim you received will have more than likely been swapped over in transit so all set up and ready to go for you.

The second sim you have got will be as a courtesy as not everyone has the required sim for the phone and if need be you could do a sim swap to it.

You can by all means call o2 or check within my o2 under the orders section to confirm it is defiantly an upgrade that has been set up, but it does sound like normal practice.

Without seeing your account we can't answer for sure, but it seems your original contract was transferred to the first sim you received. The sim that came with the phone won't be required as your contract will continue, however, and this is the BUT, you may still be paying your old contract and the new refresh deal. It all depends how it was set up on your account so you should call 202 first thing tomorrow and check what the score is.

Use the one that came initially.. You won't be charged for 2 contracts if you upgraded or started a new contract as long as you had paid off the previous contract (that's if you did have a contract previously).

 Call 202 tomorrow for clarification.

Hi Guys,

 

Thank you all for the quick replies.

 

My O2 account now shows the updated contract which is a positive I guess, I paid the refresh charge so I shouldn't be getting billed for the old contract with the new one.

 

I'll contact O2 tomorrow morning aswell just to double check but from what you lot have said it all seems fine at the moment and everything should be ok.

That is the key bit of info - By paying the refresh charge that means you fast tracked your upgrade so you will only have one contract = All good slight_smile
