Many were affected for a lot longer than that as their phones wouldn't register back onto the network after the fix was applied.

After losing connection for most of day, for the the third time in 3 months I've come to conclusion that O2 are a shower of sh-te.
The fact they have problems is a side matter, their utter contempt to customers by not providing contact or information is compounded by their refusal to offer any compensation for their poor service.
Needless to say contacting their customer support is like peeing into the wind and I will be glad to get shot of them at the end of contract, although I'm considering breaking the contract and claiming through the small claims system to get the 'penalty' back.
Its the same old problem though - once they have your contract its two fingers to you if you have any problems!
