Cold call (supposedly from o2) offering to pay of contract and upgrade today, is this genuine? They said 'o2 are transferring all customers direct through o2...' I am currently on o2 via Phones4U. '...and as an offer are offering to pay off the remainder of my contract and upgrade today'.

Wanted to check if this genuine or not.

It sounds like this is O2, they are currently contacting qualifying customers who connect through P4U for an early upgrade, did you not get a text about it?

Call through to 202 and ask to be put through to recontracts team, they are the guys dealing with it.

You are right to be cautious though, you do get a lot of fakes calling through claiming to be be working for O2.

Any offer from a cold caller for anything should be rejected out of hand.

Personally I wouldn't touch it until you can verify who they are.

Once you have verified who they are then please come back to the forum to check our advice.

There have been problems with Aerial and one or two others.

Are they likely to do this with CPW as well or is this just because o2 have pulled out of dealing with P4U?

I doubt it because O2 are still more than happy to deal with CPW as a trading partner.

Call o2 yourself on 202 for confirmation.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
