Hello,
My contract is until April 2015. I will move abroad in September. Can I just pay my settlement for the phone and cancel the contract? Or do I have to pay a cancellation fee?
Do I get any advantages if I will make a contract with O2 in the other country?
Thanks.

As said, better to do it here in the UK before you go but you can contact O2 easily enough from Thailand.
Any apps that are phone number related will continue to work. The only problem would be if you had to uninstall or reinstall the apps or when changing phones. Obviously security texts would be sent to the O2 number so you would have to register again.
Apart from that there should be no problems.
Enjoy Thailand, it's a beautiful place and I won't be far behind you.
If your phone is not unlocked, do it before you go as it's free on contract. I recommend you get a local DTAC sim card. £8/month gets you 4GB data and free daytime calls and texts to other DTAC users.

I think i'll do it once im in Thaialnd, so that i can contact people whilst i am at the airport without trouble. Do you know if it's free to call O2 customer services when abroad?
Thats so cheap! Thanks for the advice, im very excited to get over there!

It's free to call customer service from overseas on contract. You should also install TuGo to use over wifi. This allows you to use your allowances with the UK number even with a local sim card in the phone.
