Charges for data on new iPhone

Anonymous
Not applicable

Why am I being charged £1 per day for data when I am using my home broadband.  I thought this was not charged for, since you are already paying for it.

Hi @Anonymous Check your phone settings. You sound as if you have mobile data turned on (if so turn it off)...This £1 charge is invariably for the web daily tariff...

Also make sure you have WiFi assist switched off, as this will use Mobile Data, when your iPhone detects poor WiFi performance.
This is not customer services and we dont have access to your account
I do not work for o2 or any VMo2 /Telefonica/Liberty Global Company

Wifi sleeps on the iphone and switches to mobile data automatically. You need to switch off mobile/cellular data altogether to stop the charges.

Many thanks all who have replied. Just spent nearly 20 minutes on an o2 chat line and got nowhere.  Thanks for all your useful suggestions, which I have followed

Some apps are now allowed to keep WiFi on if background app refresh is on for them.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.
