Hi I have received a bill with £42 of charges for mobile data abroad , which I would like to understand where these came from - when I landed in Egypt on 17th oct I was in aeroplane mode , I then turned off my mobile data and stopped using data until I arrived back at uk a week later  , so am struggling to see how I have incurred these charges ?

i recognise the few texts and expected them but the data looks incorrect to me ?

please advise

Depending on your phone @Mich81 it could be apps trying to establish a data connection.

Both Apple and some Android devices use data for messaging/voicemail purposes, so could be one of those.

The phone will squeeze out some data use when turned off/on as well.

If you want to dispute the charges then you need to contact customer services - either call 202 from your phone or message on social media using the links below.

£42 equates to just 5.6MB. Very easy to use in a couple of minutes of background data

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
