Actually, whatever you do, DO NOT cancel your direct debit.
The number of customer we get each day telling us their credit was declined for a car, or a mortgage was because of o2, then we look back on their records and it shows their FINAL bill wasnt paid because their direct debit was cancelled.
NEVER cancel direct debit. Once o2 take your final bill, the direct debit cancels automatically.
To answer your question regarding post pay to prepay. It is very straight forward.
Get yourself a prepay sim card with a temporary number on it. Then once you are cancelling your contract, give the temp number to retentions team and they will transfer your contract number to the prepay sim card. It will all be transferred within 24 hours.
After the number has successfully transferred, your contract will disconnect. You will then get a FINAL bill 14 days after disconnection date, but again, DO NOT cancel your direct debit.
I hope this helps.

You need to give 30 days notice otherwise your contract rolls over month by month. Give your notice in May and ask for your PAC if you wish to keep your number. When you use your PAC it will effectively end your contract and O2 will send you a final bill.
