Hello , I currently have a 02 contract which i bought for my son years ago as he wasnt old enough to get his own. He is due for an upgrade in 9 days and want to stick with 02. However he wants to purchase the 02 insurance with his new contract but I dont want any problems with claims in the future if the account is in my name and he is the one resposible for the phone. So is there any way I can change my account name into his? or is there a simpler option?

Thanks

@Keerthan as the account is due an upgrade it is the ideal opportunity for your son to apply for a new contract in his name.

Once the new contract is in place, you can migrate the phone number to the new contract which will automatically end the old contract in your name.

Make sure you clear the final bill which will arrive a month after ending the contract.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

@Keerthan  Sorry to say, but the options are not simpler. If the contract is in your name, it is you who is due for the upgrade, not your son, even though he may be paying for the current contract. Your son would need to take out a contract in his own name, and he would have to go through a credit check. He could then purchase insurance for the phone, although I would suggest he look at other insurers rather than O2 insurance, as O2 insurance is fairly expensive, and there are better policies out there.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
