My contract expired last month , when I try to change tariff I get options I don’t want , too expensive . I saw the sim only offer of 20gb for .£15 . As I am already with o2 do I need to buy this new SIM card ?

You need to go to upgrade options not tariff change.

I did that but it looks like I need to buy a new SIM card .? I thought o2 could just change my tariff without swapping over SIM cards . Sorry if this is a stupid question .

You can choose to keep your current SIM.
