I struggle to understand all the options at the best of times, so bear with me.

My wife has an ageing HTC android mobile phone on a PAYG text & talk tariff (or similar). She auto tops up about £10 a month.

She's getting an iPhone 4S for her birthday. I want to

  1. get a sim for the 4S (micro sim?)
  2. enable her to keep her existing number
  3. Do 1 & 2 above, so that when she gets her phone on her birthday, the sim is ready to go    straight in the phone without it unduly affecting her current phone number availability (up until the last day anyway).

Is it possible to walk into an O2 store, buy a sim, probably on a nw tariff, and plan the get that sim working on her existing number on a given date?

Hope that makes sense...

Thanks

When you want it changed, go into your local store, ask for a micro sim, payg or pay monthly. Tell them that you want to keep tariff & number, they will do the transfer for you, it can take upto 24 hours to complete but usually quicker. Remember to keep turning your new phone on & off every so often to check if you have signal which means the new sim would be active

If you do it in store the day before it should be all working for her the nexr day.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)
