If you are using your O2 phone it is free to call CS from abroad.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

I believe also you can just use live chat and request your PAC from them and thus cancelling your contract.
Can anyone verify that works?

Some doubt as to Live chat having the ability to generate a PAC but it would end the contract if you got it and used it.

I would follow as many as avenues as possible.

Even sending a letter - recorded if possible - to the address in the link.

Another possible way is if you have a family member over in the UK, that you can trust with the account security details, to close the account for you.
