I want to cancel my account without taking my number with me. I pay monthly with direct debit and was transferred to 02 from virgin and was under the impression I had a PAYG but it seems it is called

Pay monthly, which is different.

The info online is confusing. What exactly do I need to do. I have cancelled my DD. Will I get a charge?

Also, what does an O2 phone mean? Does it refer to having  an O2 Sim or does it mean a phone locked to O2?

I find the info online far too confusing and there are too many different rules and terminology for non-tech-savy people.

As this is ex Virgin we are talking about a pay monthly SIM card.

Regretfully cancellation of your Direct Debit will put you in arrears with O2 and eventually those arrears will appear on your credit file and debt recovery,

You will need to contact O2.

Message them on Social Media. Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG

Or phone them on 202 or 0344 809 0202 (contract)

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Text the word INFO to 85075 to see what they might be.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
