Cancelling contract

Hi I am looking at cancelling my contract with o2 as I have had no end of issues with them trying to keep my contract with them. If I cancel my direct debit with my bank is it the account holder or the bill payer who receives the debt? I am unsure what length contract my phone is under. Also, do I need to obtain my PAC code before cancelling?

Thanks

@Chelsea1802 the named person on the account is responsible for payments.

You should follow the correct route to cancel to avoid issues https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/How-to-Guides/Cancelling-Your-Contract-A-Guide/ba-p/566774

You will need a PAC to take your number to a new network before you cancel https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/How-to-Guides/How-to-get-your-PAC-2017-Update/ba-p/1052278 but moving your number will also cancel the account immediately.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hi @Chelsea1802

Info on cancelling here https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/How-to-Guides/Cancelling-Your-Contract-A-Guide/ba-p/566774

Getting your PAC here https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/How-to-Guides/How-to-get-your-PAC-2017-Update/ba-p/1052278

If you use your PAC it will cancel your contract with O2 immediately and you will get a final bill.

Just make sure NO direct debits are cancelled until you receive the final bill.

Thanks but I have an issue that I am not the account holder so will not receive the bill but I pay the direct debits. o2 will not discuss the contract with me at all so do not know what sort of charges the account holder will receive. It is just a vicious circle

Then you need to discuss the cancellation and final bill etc with the account holder.

Sorry if that proves difficult, but it has to be done....

That's always the risk when you're not the account holder unfortunately. You could ask the account holder to.call O2 and give permission for the contract to be discussed with you but that may not be an option for you for various reasons.

Unfortunately not an option so I guess he will have to sort things with o2 about any final bill as I am unable to get in touch. Seems my only option is to cancel my direct debit.
I just find it very bizarre how they are happy to take my money every month (and did not actually speak to me regarding him setting up a direct debit in my name) yet will not even give me the PAC code for a number that I had on PAYG before setting up a contract...

If you cancel the direct debit as he is the account holder he will be liable for the debt.

Maybe if you cancelled the DD, he would be more amenable to giving you the PAC ,so you in turn, settle the debt.

The other option is to cancel the direct debit, and when he complains, settle up with him and take out a new contract in your own name.

You will have to undergo crredit checks though ..
