So I'm moving to Uni this year and want to cut costs a bit so I want to end my current pay monthly contract and stop it renewing and move to a pay as you go sim (still on o2). How would I go about doing that?

Call customer services on 202 and they will move your number to PAYG.
Unless you are out of contract, you will be charged early termination fees, otherwise, it's free with one months notice.
