So as the title states I have cancelled one of my o2 contracts as I have 2 upon closing is they sent me a email telling me my bill was £24 and that I also had £42 outside of my call plan that will be debited from my account on the 26th which is today so £66 should of gone out but only £24 did.
i have rang up Customer service as I can no longer login to myO2 as they have closed the account down the lady on the phone stated like 3 times your balance is 0 there is nothing to pay now and I can cancel my direct debit.
i mentioned everything above and see said well it’s 0 here so there’s nothing to pay what do I do as heard plenty of horror stories on here of missed payments being log for unpaid bills after they have left.

Just rang the number saying the same as the previous person I spoke with but my email definitely said I owe another £42

The email is system generated and may have been generated before the final bill was paid.
Keep all correspondence from O2 confirming £0.00

That’s the worry have no correspondence just what they have stated on the phone the bill was generated on the 10th of this month stating £24 and £42 in extra charges then today only took £24 you’d think that it would take the full amount owing as stated on the email

Sounds like the system has now caught up as the email is 15 days old.
Just leave the DD in place but they won't take anymore money without emailing or texting you first.
