The only way to solve this is to call customer service and pay the outstanding bill. If the account was in your name then legally you are liable for payment and it is your credit file that will have a default notice. Call them as soon as possible. We always advise against cancelling a direct debit until the final bill has been produced despite what an adviser tells you.
