I had a friends contract on my account for a while, we have now cancelled this contract set up a new one and transferred the number when we did this I was told I wouldn't need to pay anything turns out there was the last months bill which is now overdue and consequently my friends phone has been disconnected, what's the best way to solve this?

The only way to solve this is to call customer service and pay the outstanding bill. If the account was in your name then legally you are liable for payment and it is your credit file that will have a default notice. Call them as soon as possible. We always advise against cancelling a direct debit until the final bill has been produced despite what an adviser tells you.

Pay the bill is the easiest way to fix it.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
