Cancellation of monthly contract

Anonymous
Not applicable
I cancelled my month,y contract before I left for New Zealand and I gave the 30 days notice that was requested. I paid off the outstanding payments for my phone as well and was advised that all I had left to pay was any outstanding airtime on my account which I paid. I have now received a bill for an extra £120 cancellation fee. In all the conversations I had with O2 this extra charge was never mentioned!

Were you on the refresh tariff ?

With that all one needs to do is pay the handset off and then give notice to end the airtime and walk away.

If on an older style contract of 24 months etc you are required to pay the remaining amount of months left on the contract minus any bolt on and insurance.

Id give them a phone call or use live chat to askl for clarification.

You'll have to discuss this with CS I'm afraid http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

If you were on refresh and paid off the handset you are able to leave your contract and just pay off the airtime. There should be no cancellation fee. Contact customer service as there has obviously been an error.
