My balance slowly increases. Can I use it to pay (or part pay) for a phone upgrade?

Hi Ta.

You can not use your credit towards a new phone.

But you can sign up for O2 Rewards and every time you top up O2 put money in a little pot for you and you get the chance to claim this back as credit or bank it towards the cost of a shiny new phone.

If you wish to take out a contract with a new phone you can transfer your balance as a credit on your contract account.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

That's the best option, even if you go for the rolling 30 day Simplicity you get all the credit transferred to your account.
