Can't top up by phone or web

Anonymous
Not applicable

Newly activated PAYG SIM - can't top up online or via 4444. Trying to top up online gives a page titled "O2 - Error 500" with the message "It looks like something's gone wrong. We're looking into it and hope to get it fixed soon." ...and of course a picture of that freaky-looking cat with the stick in its mouth 😞

Tried THREE different Internet browsers and two different cards - credit and debit.

Support guy on web chat said that there was "no top-up error on your account" and that "It seems to be some temporary technical error".

But - he then said that sometimes when the SIM card is new it requires a manual top-up - is this true? It's majorly inconvenient if so.....

Also the cards need to be registered on your account as it's a new one. If you can't do this yourself then as said contact CS 4445 (this is probably what he meant by a manual top up...It would only be the first time..

Look at this link

How do I go about registering the card(s)? I don't see any sort of links when I'm logged into O2.

I would just buy a top-up but I'm in a very rural locale and the nearest shop that I know sells topups is a few miles away, which is why I was hoping to be able to top-up remotely...

Apologies...I provided the link after making my initial statement. When I was payg I had to register three cards by phoning CS on 4445

Doesn't 4445 cost 25p to call or something? There's zero balance on the phone....!

Looks like I'll have to wait until I can get a top-up voucher from a shop.

Thanks anyway!
