I was setting up a PAYG phone for a relative, and brought a Vodafone SIM card as was unsure if it was needed.

Vodafone had already sent them a sim and number, so they don’t need the one I brought.

I looked at the phone number and I’d like to make it my number (I’m on o2 contract)

Can I transfer a number mid contract, or is there issue with it being PAYG to contract etc?

Yes you can move the number mid contract, but bare in mind any credit on the Voda sim will be lost

You will need to activate the number on Vodafone's network before they will issue a PAC code, so you have to top up and make a call and then wait 24 hours and lose the credit.

Once that is done the request the PAC code and give to o2
- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

Vodafone will issue you a pac without topping up and the sim is already activated.
