Can I cancel for free?

Hi all, have a question regarding my contract I have roughly 6 months left on my contract and I wish too leave O2 however bit unsure if I would have to pay anything. It offers me the option to upgrade for free with O2 refresh but I don’t wish too, when I click on O2 refresh it says -

“£0 left to pay on your existing contract, upgrade to O2 refresh and we’ll pay off the rest of your existing contract for you, otherwise you’ll finish paying it off through your monthly payment on December 15th 2020”

Does that mean I can cancel my contract now and not have too pay a lump sum? Don’t really understand as I’ve never cancelled a contract before.
