You are charged to receive calls when anywhere outside the EU.
If not answered, it will be picked up by your voicemail unless you turn it off.
This is all covered in your contract T&C's.

I am going abroad and will be charged even if i do not answer my phone. You said that I have to switch off voice mail. Can I do this my end or do I need to contact O2 to do this? secondly, if someone sends me a text will I be charged? thanks

Thanks also... also would you know about calls. If i switch off my voicemail do it switch it off or do i need O2 do do this as i don't want to be charged
