hello, is it free to call 2425 from abroad please? I just want to check before i go on holiday to an EU country. I'm on PAYG.

Yes, all the same (free) shortcodes used in the UK will work from abroad providing you are using an o2 sim card.

Are you aware that you can only use O2 Numbers from the UK?

Any calls made overseas are subject to roaming or O2 Travel rates.

Just to repeat and reinforce jonsie's post though...
Your family numbers, if dialed from abroad, will be charged at the relevant countries roaming rates.
