Calling and texting overseas from the UK

Anonymous
Not applicable

Where can I find a clear statement of the cost of calling and texting overseas from the UK .

I have made calls to the US and to Spain and the cost seems to be over £1 a minute.

Is that correct?

What is the cost of a text --I seem to have been charged 29.5p?

Calling charges do vary from country to country but if you tend to use the service often then think about the International favourites bolt on.

Personally when I was in the UK I favoured O2 World Chat which is an app you can use for as little as 2-3p/min and you add credit as and when you need it. Great for me calling family in Thailand at the time.

What's more you can try it free.

@Anonymous Using your tariff allowance to call and text numbers overseas can get very expensive. You're much better off using O2 World Chat, as @jonsie has suggested, or Skype where you can buy credit or call and message over WiFi, or many other similar VOIP apps. If you're an iPhone user you can use Facetime, or if you're an Android user, Google now has an app called Duo. Many different avenues for you to explore.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

There is also an international bolt on which lowers the prices, but that wasn't the question asked originally.

With all the alternatives, and most at a fraction of the cost of what it costs to use your phone, unless you're in an area where using your allowance is the only option, it's a no-brainer not to use what's available.
