Calling abroad on pay monthly

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi, recently I signed a 24 month contract with O2 for Samsung Galaxy S5 for around £36/month. I'm quite happy with the tarfiff, but as I often make international calls, my latest bill is more than £80. Well, I can't say I wasn't expecting it, but I'd like to avoid situations like these in the future.

Is there any bundle or tariff I can use to make cheaper international calls (EU Zone mainly)?

I'd be glad if anyone could help me with this "issue". And sorry for posting this question here, but chat is currently unavailable.

Have a look here for the countries you call.

Hi Serail. I think this would benefit you. O2 have a broad range of products to help with international charges when calling from the UK. Take a look here: https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/international John

The cheapest way to call abroad on your phone is if you can find a WiFi hotspot, buy some credit and use a VOIP client like Skype. Much cheaper than using mobile tariffs.

That looks interesting @jonsie. Do you need WiFi or data turned on? I presume you must have to have one or the other turned on.

Calls are made over the network (presumably through a local number) so you don't need wifi or data

This World Chat seems interesting. Probably will try it out this week. And correct me if I'm wrong, but it says that this app is available to everyone, not only O2 customers so it's not connected in any way with my existing line and I have to top it up seperately so I have full control over my spendings.

It almost looks too good to be true... or maybe services like this one are the reason why I'm with O2 for 4 years now.

Yes, you just top it up like a payg account.
