I'm sure I'm not alone in being devastated by the above inflation increases that O2 shareholders will be benefiting from with the highly profitable CPI+ increase communicated today, whilst we are in the midst of a cost of living crisis and substantially below inflation pay "awards". Is there a mechanism for cancelling the airtime plan if the device is paid off?

Once the device is paid off then yes you can cancel the airtime part @Anon25
Either get a PAC if you want to keep the number and move to another network, or a STAC if you just want to cancel.
