Buying another phone

Hi

I already have my phone on O2. I have just bought my boyfriend a phone from affordable mobiles on O2, in my name. he was previously with Vodafone. Can he keep his number from Vodafone and how do I go about adding his new mobile into my account. Affordable mobiles are asking me to add his number to my account before they will send the phone out.
