Blue Light Card - retired

Does anyone know if the Blue Light Card Holder discount is purely for 'employed' people. I have recently retired from the police family and rightfully hold a BLC, but not sure if it will qualify me for the 25% refresh airtime discount?

My pension is paid by the County Council and so that is the only payslip I can provide.

So, is the discount for serving staff only?  I cant find a list of occupations that qualify, and importantly, if pensioners qualify!

Thanks in advance. 🙂

@JMI

It's for those people who are still employed. Guide: O2 Open & Friends and Family discounts - How to sign up  Sorry about that.

Wait until the stores reopen and go in store to check.

BLC can be used in all stores (over the counter) where you qualify for a discount but online is restricted to following a certain process.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Nothing is said in the guide about retired/BLC people being able to use O2 Open.
If that is the case then surely it should be added to the guide?

Blue Light people can, as I have had it confirmed in a text back from O2.
That is what is confusing me to be honest. Not sure what the point of permitting BLC holders but then excluding some of them. 😞

I use my BLC discount all the time with other providers, and I take it as appreciation of 30 year service to the community.

Ah well, I will find out soon. Have applied online and will follow the advice regarding going in to an O2 shop.

will let everyone know

Yes best of luck. Come back and let us know how you get on. If it works, then it can be added to the current guide so everyone is aware. I worked for the NHS for 45 years and have friends in the same profession. Their open discount ends when they retire.
