BlackBerry(R) Text and Web - need Blackberry Bolt-on?

Anonymous
Not applicable

My BB does not receive/send emails

I have a Pay & go "Blackberry Text and Web" tariff

(still 500mb unused at this time)

My phone has no Host Routing Tables (completly empty!), and all searches seem to indiquate is that there is no "Blackberry plan" for the account

Now do i need to add the extra Blackberry Bolt-On to get HRTs?

I wish NOT to wipe the phone and need to reactivate with our BES in Canada.

To answer:

* Can you make calls and send texts? - yes

* Do you get 3G, or GPRS connection? - yes

* Can you connect to WiFi? - no, since no wifi is available

* Was this phone provisioned previously in BES? - yes

* Were you getting your work emails? - on the old sim, yes, on the new PAYG sim, no

* Did you have access to internet and personal email accounts? - no internet

Battery pull, removal of sim, all done multiple times!

hope the security wipe will not be needed, since then reapprovisionning will cost on my PAYG data

But first, i saw that my APN setting where still set to Bell (canada provider) so i will try to change it to either payandgo.o2.co.uk2 or mobile.o2.co.uk and see after that.

But for all things, i assume o2 will need to add BES service to my account, which seems the most probable as all searches for "missing HRT" gives always the same answer "you do not have Blackberry service on the account" or something similar..

Which brings me back to the original question : Does the "Blackberry" bolt-on gives BES access ? (not BIS as per Blackberry Text and Web Tariff)

Its late and was just checking this befoer I go to bed, but I don't believe that the BlackBerry bolt-on will give BES access. You already essentially have the bolt-on because your tarrif is "BlackBerry Text and Web". I think for BES to work it needs to be set on your account by O2.

Best idea is to speak to O2, not live chat, and see what they say.

Finaly someone at o2 confirmed there is NO BES SERVICES available on Pay&Go.  So all this for nothing.

I don't see why they can't just enable it on your account, they allow BES on pay monthly...although I guess that might be special corporate contracts :S

What you could do for now is wipe it and use BIS? Does your corporate office use anything like Outlook Web Access that would allow you to get work email on your BlackBerry?
