Hi,
I had an iPhone 7 and I recently upgraded to an iPhone 11 2 days ago, I looked in my bank last night and I had been charged for my old phone contract can someone tell me what’s going on with this or am I jut being stupid ?

Yes, that would be your final bill with O2, or a pro rata part of it. Your second bill should show the new tariff price.

My grandson upgraded in May, and exactly the same thing happened with him. It's all sorted now though.

Your billing date doesn't change and 2 days is not enough to make a significant change to your bill. 
next month you will be charged your new tariff rate.
