I need some advice from you guys about my new tariff. It may be a little early but I have to get prepared.

Currently I am on contract which is up for renewal in December (or just before) I have a S3 at the moment

To get something that suits me, there are a few things you need to know ...

!) I will be getting a Note 3...that isn't up for debate...

2) Currently I am on Unlimited texts and minutes and 1GB of data (which I never exceed)

3) Where possible, I use my PC or tablet. (I don't work... so these two devices are my comfort zone)

4) I go to Spain frequently so this has to be considered....

5) I want to stay with O2

As the  contract I am on at present is the first one I have ever had.....what is going to happen nearer my end date? ....

Will I be bombarded with calls and texts from other partners encouraging me to go with them?...

There you go...I am sure I will have many other questions, but these will do for now wink

Based on the current available tariff's (subject to change by O2) I would drop to a 12 month simo and buy the phone outright from somewhere (sim free)
Currently, tariff wise you will pay £19 a month for the same tariff that you are on now.
It is still classed as a contract so Tugo and any other contract only perk will remain as they are now.
12 Months Unlimited Calls Unlimited Texts 1GB 4G Data
£19.00
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

You may get cold calls from O2 and trusted partners. Say no

I'd either do this online or via 202 or the O2 store.

I can't really suggest what tariffs yet as they could Change when it's your time to upgrade.

I'd be cheeky and try to haggle with retentions too.

Well apart from the decision on either Refresh Tariff from O2 direct or the 2 year contracts from CPW that is.

If haggling..I need to know what I am haggling about. As I said this is my FIRST contract ending BoB...and I have no intention of getting any 'buyers remorse'...:smileysad:

If you are happy with your present tariff you don't have to do anything, your contact will just carry on albeit a 30 day rolling contract. Simply put the sim in your Note 3 and you're good to go.

Just refer any cold calls with a polite no but to be honest I've only ever had one.

If you want to change tariff have a look at the new ones with 4G included but with your usage you probably won't benefit really.

Being on a 30 day rolling contract (or changing to a Simplicity 30 day contract) means you can leave anytime just by giving 30 days notice and also able to take advantage of any new tariffs that happen from time to time.

If you opted out of receiving texts and calls from third parties on your My O2 page, you shouldn't get any calls or texts about upgrading. If you haven't opted out yet, do it now.

If you're happy with the tariff you're on at the moment, you don't have to do anything. It will just become a 30 day rolling contract. You can buy the Note 3 sim free. The initial outlay obviously costs more, but it generally works out cheaper in the end to do it that way. You're not tied into a contract, you will get Android updates much quicker, and you can sell whatever you have whenever you want to upgrade again. Personally, I would never enter into a long term mobile phone contract again, but it's obviously your choice.

You could obviously buy your next device Sim free , and as Jonsie says go on a rolling contract.

If possible Den I would get the phone sim free and pay for it outright. Not lumbered with O2 bloatware and get updates straight away.
