Re: Being charged £12 for a call I didn't make

So the call was made after all?

Yep.
But it seems O2 are still to blame for something! Smiley Very Happy

Re: Being charged £12 for a call I didn't make

As per usual the 'I didn't make that call' thread turns out to be a call that somebody has forgotten about.
I've never actually come across a call, make in the UK, that's been charged incorrectly to a customers bill. The network investigation that's been mentioned is actually more aimed at calls made whilst roaming.
Generally, the o2 consumer pay monthly billing system is excellent at getting the call time/cost/duration correct so that o2 can take the stance of 'if the call is on your bill then it came from your sim'.
With regards to not being able to get a contract phone because you have no credit rating, well, personally I think that's a bit obvious - it's a credit account after all. Many people could quite easily manage to run up a larger monthly bill on their mobile then they would on a credit card.
The solution in this situation? Pay and go or as the OP has done, get somebody who trusts you not to run up a bill/ruin their credit file to take out a contract for you.
